He started his career in Martial Arts at the tender age of 13 and mastered the arts of Kenpo, Muay Thai, Kali, Jun Fan JKD, wrestling, boxing, and shootfighting.

In 1997 he was influenced by the early days of UFC fighting by a friend to try out Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He also began competing in in-house MMA gym competitions (since Mixed Martial Arts at the time was not well received in the communities and the public.)

Thank you for joining us, Reese, it’s a pleasure having you today. When did you move to Las Vegas and start your journey with martial arts?

“In 2001, I moved to Las Vegas. I became a student of the First Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/MMA school of Las Vegas called “Jsect” owned by former UFC fighter John Lewis (also known as a pioneer of MMA and the owner of the MMA show called World Fighting Alliance). John was instrumental in the merging of the Fertittas buying the UFC. He was also their first Jiu Jitsu Teacher.”

Are there any well known or exceptional fighters you’ve had trained/fought with?

“I’ve trained with world class MMA Fighters and Grapplers such as John Lewis, Marc Laimon, Sim Go, Sonny Nohara, Kimo Leopoldo, Marvin Eastman, Rafael Lovato, Carlos Newton, Gilbert Yvel, Jeff Glover, Frank Trigg, Razor Rob McCullough, Vitor Shaolin” says Idica.

You seem to be quite involved and well rounded with several styles. Have ever considered teaching?

“I am also certified as a Black Belt and affiliated under the powerhouse team in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the UFC called “Nova Uniao” aka New Union. I assisted teaching at Fight Capital Gym (formerly JSect) in June of 2013 and began my Journey as a Black Belt in January of 2015. “ Reese continues….
“Since then I have opened up under my own BJJ academy called Nova Uniao Las Vegas/Rivals BJJ.”

Reese is a multi-faceted individual, to say the least. He continues, “I have also been a Law Enforcement Official for 1 5 years. I instruct my own Defensive Tactics Lesson Plan For Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies and have the only Jiu Jitsu based P.O.ST. Approved Certification in Nevada.”

VegasVibes Season 9 Episode 2 Randy Black II a.k.a. Ran Blacc

Randy Blacc II a.k.a. Ran Blacc

Recording Artist, Entrepreneur & Philanthropist

VegasVibes Season 9 Episode 2 hosted by Esmeralda Padilla-Gould proudly features Randy H. Black II a.k.a. Ran Blacc. Mr. Black, a tireless and remarkable gentleman, born in Kentucky, and raised from a young boy here in Las Vegas. I am honored to introduce.

An R&B and Hip Hop talent since his childhood, Ran Blacc idolized and emulated his father’s band “The Techniques,” and as a teen he spent many hours helping his father DJ for his karaoke company “Step To The Mic”; thus exposing his mind and broadening his musical understanding to include all genres of music.
Randy Black attended UNLV where he excelled as an athlete, as well as an academic. While studying criminal justice and sociology, he also had a hugely successful football career. Never neglecting his first love, Randy continued making music to quench his rhythmic life’s passion.

While entertaining his own multi-faceted endeavors, Mr. Blacc sought a way to give back and contribute by calling upon his heart and soul to propel young student athletes toward an established direction to ultimately fulfill each adolescent sentience with self worth and the dignity that comes with heartfelt, earned success.
Randy founded the first branch of his non-profit organization. Named “Team Black and Blue Football,” it focused on teaching and training athletes to excel as students off and on the field. While working hard to make a difference, he also sought to find his niche in the entertainment industry. Combining talents with his older cousin T.O. Terrell (a.k.a. Tmite or So Cooller), the two started WarrHogg Records. After 4 years of underground music, Ran Blacc started his own music company named “Real Musiq Entertainment,” beginning his experience as promoter and host of local parties and showcases across the Las Vegas valley. These experiences would later lead to linking up with business partner Phil So (a.k.a. SooPhilthy) and changing the name to “Crown Repulik Entertainment.” CRE was founded with hopes of discovering many new business avenues such as: modeling, clothing design, party promoting, graphic design, party hosting, song writing, and producing through a family networking system created for the betterment of all involved. These hopes then led to the creation of the CrownGang movement, and setting forth to spread a different form of HIP HOP culture. Ran Blacc’s goal is to bring forth the type of HIP HOP he himself grew up immersed in! Although he created this venture on his own the CrownGang movement has sparked what it is we know as Da’ CRown today. Many say his music has a Las Vegas/Bay Area feel, mixed with a little southern gentleman.
